Who we are

Claire & Sam

ClaireSam4

Activity Station was set up in January 2014 by Claire Eaves and Sam Hurst, who both live in the London Borough of Richmond-Upon-Thames and are passionate about supporting people with learning difficulties and disabilities.

Their combined experience, gained from caring for their disabled sons and working with people who have disabilities, is over 35 years.

Our Mission

To provide people with disabilities access to a range of fun and inclusive activities and social events in their local area that they can choose from.

We also aim to work with local and national organisations, including charities to ensure that their experience and expertise, of working and helping people with disabilities, is passed on to Activity Station activities and social events wherever possible.

In Memory

Ned was the inspiration behind Claire’s idea to set up activities for people with disabilities. After chatting to Sam Hurst (whose son Jed has severe learning difficulties) about her idea, they got together in January 2014. They organised and ran a very successful sensory screening of ‘Madagascar’ at Olympic Studios in February 2014 and a Drama Workshop run by Dramatize at Castlenau Community Centre in April 2014. They also planned a sports programme for people with disabilities at Barn Elms Sports Trust (BEST) to be run by coaches from Richmond Inclusive Sports and Exercise (RISE) in August 2014. So Activity Station began.

In June 2014 Ned, aged 20, tragically died.  Much loved by everyone, Ned is the WHY behind Activity Station, and everything we do is dedicated to his memory.

We hope you find our activities of interest and we welcome any feedback. If you wish to make a donation to Activity Station please click on the DONATE button at the top of the page.
